Under the auspices of the EACC Sustainability Working Group: an interactive discussion on “Leveraging AI for Corporate Sustainability: Navigating Risk to Accelerate the Transition”

Boston Consulting Group has estimated that, if implemented with the right safeguards, AI can reduce GHG emissions by 5-10% in 2030 and add $1.3-2.6 trillion in value-added when applied to corporate sustainability generally.

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will increase exponentially in the next few years across all industries, pushing all companies towards a more sustainable future. Implementing AI-related digital solutions will help businesses reduce energy consumption, process carbon footprint calculations, and even streamline their ESG reporting.

In addition to the promise of AI, its use in corporate sustainability needs its safeguards. Many companies are developing codes of conduct for AI usage across their organization to help them ethically navigate issues such as data privacy while efficiently handling large amounts of sensitive data about customers, employees, or other stakeholders.

This discussion will cross expert perspectives – legal, regulatory, operational, ethical – around AI and corporate sustainability. It will also offer attendees examples of how companies are leveraging AI’s promise for sustainability objectives while mitigating the inherent risks it presents.
